Delphi 4 Year Update: Mike & Becky Patty pen touching CNN piece ∙ Superintendent Doug Carter interview transcript Abby and Libby Memorial Park set to open this spring HLN to air 2-part Delphi series

Today, February 13, 2021 marks the four year anniversary of the murders of 14 year old Liberty (‘Libby’) German and 13 year old Abigail (‘Abby’) Williams in Delphi, Indiana. Known as ‘The Delphi Murders’, the case received significant notoriety due to the heroic actions Libby, who used her phone to capture video and audio of her killer. Despite this incredible piece evidence, the case remains unsolved.

In 2020 I interviewed Superintendent Doug Carter of The Indiana State Police about the case. Superintendent Carter is a familiar face to those who follow the investigation. He has acted as a spokesperson at several press conferences, including in April of 2019 when police announced a “new direction” in the inquiry. It was during this presser that an updated sketch of the suspect was released, showing a man who appeared considerably younger than the original drawing, as well as a 1.5 second video of the man walking on the Monon High Bridge.

Speaking with him was an absolute pleasure. You can tell he cares deeply about the investigation and bringing closure to the families. I’m reposting the March 2020 interview transcription, in which Superintendent Carter talks about his background in law enforcement, the dangers sharing ‘side-by-sides’ can pose, the current status of the case, and an interesting bit of insight into specific profiling that has been conducted. Carter believes this case will be solved, and he’s not the only one. Today CNN posted an open letter from Becky and Mike Patty, grandparents of Libby German, asking the public to “give them a minute”. When asked to …

Chris Watts – New Prison Call Transcript

CHRIS WATTS PRISON PHONE CALL TRANSCRIPT AUDIO JAIL CALL CHRIS WATTS GIRLFRIEND ANNA SHANANN WATTS CASE

– JayIs4Justice Podcast has obtained audio of a Chris Watts jail-house call with his girlfriend & a private investigator.

–  Chris references studying in law library & discusses potential plans to file paperwork under ’35c’: Colorado’s Post-Conviction Relief, which is a way to attempt to vacate verdicts.

–  Believes it was “God’s plan” for him to go to prison

–  Says “I just want to get out of here”

With the release of the Netflix documentary American Murder, there has been a resurgence of interest in the Chris Watts case. From the outside, the Watts appeared to be a picture-perfect American family. Shanann Watts, age 34, was the Colorado mother of two adorable girls (Bella, 4, and Celeste ‘Cece’, 3) and was 15 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. Husband Chris Watts, 35, was by all accounts a doting father who worked long hours as an operator at a petroleum company to provide for his family. But on August 13, 2018 in an act of unspeakable violence and brutality, Chris Watts (who had been living a secret double life engaging in an extra-marital affair with a co-worker) viciously murdered his entire family.

The Watts Family murders quickly became one of the most famous cases in modern history, as the world struggled to comprehend how something so senseless could happen at the hands of a man with no history of violence or abuse. Thousands of pages of case documents and hours of investigatory video were publicly released, with journalists and true crime YouTuber’s analyzing every detail for their audiences.

With Chris Watts currently serving life without parole at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin, insight into his life behind bars has been slim. ‘Jay is 4 Justice’, a YouTuber & podcast host, has been comprehensively covering the case from the beginning …

Delphi Murders 3 Signatures: Robert Ives Interview Transcript from ‘Down the Hill’ Podcast

Robert Ives Signatures at Delphi Murders Crime Scene as told on Down the Hill Podcast (Robert Ives Transcript Interview)

Prosecutor Robert Ives details Delphi murders, crime scene, and signatures in interview with ‘Down The Hill’ Podcast.

Robert Ives was Carroll County, Indiana’s Chief Prosecutor when the Delphi Murders occurred. Now retired, Ives gave a fascinating interview to HLN’s ‘Down The Hill’ Podcast, providing an overview of the investigatory process, where he discussed everything from the legalities of securing search warrants and cell data, to Libby’s video, and even possible signatures left at the crime scene.

As part of an ongoing effort to document facts and interviews of significance relating to the Delphi Murders, the relevant portions of the episode has been transcribed below. Please be sure to listen to Down the Hill Podcast – Chapter 5: Signatures as you read along. The entire show is phenomenal and well-produced. Ives comes across as smart and well-spoken, and in this interview, he supplies some of the best insight into the inner workings of the case to date.

[Begin Robert Ives Interview Transcript / Down The Hill Podcast]

NARRATOR: From Ives’ perspective, crime scenes in Carroll County are generally routine. He says it’s usually pretty clear from the jump who did what… but that’s not the case here.

BARBARA [HOST]: You were quoted as saying that the evidence, or the crime scene, was “odd”. What do you mean by odd?

ROBERT IVES: Well, in one sense, any murder scene is probably odd. But again this is where I have difficulty because I’m not sure what all has been released. There were a variety of things at the scene of the crime where I guess I would ask you to talk to the State Police about that. They have to decide what’s going to be released was not going to be released. It was just not your normal ‘a person was killed …

Naya Rivera Press Conference Transcript & Video – Actress Found Dead in Lake Piru

Naya Rivera Press Conference Transcript and Video

Naya Rivera Update: Press Conference Reveals Tragic Details

The search for Glee’s Naya Rivera has come to a horrific end. On July 13, 2020 at 10:00am, The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department announced via Twitter that the body of Naya Rivera was found in Lake Piru and recovery was in progress.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department held a live press conference at 2:00pm, providing details about the recovery, location, and condition of Naya’s body, as well as events that preceded her death.

While an autopsy is currently in progress and an official cause of death has not yet been determined, it appears that investigators believe Naya became entangled in shrubbery on the lake floor which lead to her drowning.

During drier seasons, trees up to 20 feet high have grown on the lake bed. Due to deep water and poor visibility of mere inches, this can cause deadly conditions for swimmers, who are unable to see the hidden dangers.

Below is the full Naya Rivera Press Conference transcription in it’s entirety, followed by the press conference video.

Our thoughts are with the Rivera family, especially her four year old son Josey, and her fans across the globe. While the outcome seemed bleak after days of searching, the reality is beyond devastating.

Sheriff Ayub of Ventura County Sheriff’s Department addresses the media after announcing a body was recovered from Lake Piru on July 13, 2020.

Delphi Murders Interview Transcript Family CrimeCon 2018 Interview Video

In a continued mission to transcribe and archive informative interviews and briefings related to The Delphi Murders, we have transcribed a live panel-style session conducted at CrimeCon 2018. The panel titled “Delphi Murders: The Family Speaks” was hosted by journalist and former HLN anchor Ashleigh Banfield. Becky Patty (Liberty German’s grandmother), Mike Patty (Liberty German’s grandfather), Anna Williams (Abby Williams’ mother) and Sergeant Jerry Holeman (District Investigative Commander at Indiana State Police and FBI National Academy graduate), were guests.

This interview discusses multiple topics of interest related to the Delphi Murders investigation, including origins of the first sketch, specifics of what agencies are involved on a daily basis, reasoning behind limited release of investigatory details, the media’s misrepresentation of Daniel Nations as a suspect, and more. Near the conclusion, audience members were encouraged to ask questions, and a touching story was shared about how the news of Libby’s quick thinking to film her killer ended up impacting a completely unrelated case.

DO YOU KNOW THIS MAN? *Help Solve the Delphi Murders – Share this Photo*

February 13th marked the three year anniversary of the deaths of Liberty German (14) and Abigail Williams (13), known as the Delphi Murders. It was unseasonably warm on that day back in 2017, and best friends ‘Libby’ and ‘Abby’ were enjoying a day off from school. Taking advantage of the nice weather, the Indiana teens took a walk on the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi, IN. When Libby’s father arrived to pick them up two hours later, they were nowhere to be found.

After a massive search, the the bodies of Libby and Abby were found the following day, victims of a double homicide. It was soon discovered that quick-thinking Libby had recorded her killer with her cell phone.

Police have released a video clip, showing several frames of the suspect walking across the Monon High Bridge, an abandoned rail bridge over Deer Creek on the trails, and a voice recording of the man directing the girls “Guys…down the hill!”. The photograph appears to depict a white male wearing blue jeans, a blue coat/jacket, and a hoodie.

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THIS MAN? Suspect in murder of Abby Williams, age 13, and Libby German, age 14.

Despite this incredible evidence, the killer’s identity remains unknown. It is imperative that the video, audio, and photo of the suspect is seen by as many people as possible. Share this on social media. Talk to your friends and family about the case and ask if they recognize this man. Someone (multiple people!) will be able to identify him- it’s just a matter of getting his image in front of them.

While this horrific crime occurred in Indiana, do not think it’s not worthwhile to share just because you may not be located in the same geographical region. This is someone’s cousin. This is …

Mackenzie Lueck- Brutal Cause of Death Revealed in New Press Conference (Transcript & Details)

Mackenzie Lueck Cause of Death Autopsy Press Conference Transcript

On July 10, 2019 Salt Lake City County District Attorney Sim Gill revealed new details in the homicide case of Mackenzie Lueck. Lueck, a Utah State University college student, was murdered last month after meeting a man she was communicating with online, 31 year old Ayoola Ajayi.

On July 3rd police discovered her charred body in a wooded area of Logan Canyon and painted a horrifying picture: Mackenzie was found with her arms bound behind her back with zip ties & rope, and 5 centimeter hole in the left side of her head with part of her skull missing.

In the days leading up to the grisly discovery, neighbors had reported “a horrible smell coming from a fire in Ajayi’s backyard” and observed him pouring gasoline into the blaze.

Detectives executed a search warrant and conducted a forensic investigation of his backyard, finding a human bone, part of a scalp with hair, charred muscular tissue, and other items of evidentiary value.

An autopsy concluded Mackenzie Lueck died from intracranial hemorrhaging due to blunt force trauma.

The Mackenzie Lueck Press Conference Transcription is below, which includes additional details and a question and answer session with reporters:
